Lokta Wall Art & Prints

Block-Printed and Hand-Painted Art on Durable Lokta Paper

Lokta paper's natural texture and durability make it an exceptional medium for wall art. Our artisans produce block-printed, screen-printed, and hand-painted wall art featuring Nepali motifs — mandalas, Buddhist thangka-inspired designs, Himalayan landscapes, traditional Newari patterns, and contemporary abstract art. The natural fiber texture of Lokta paper adds depth and warmth that conventional art paper cannot match. Lokta wall art is popular with interior designers, home decor retailers, gallery shops, and consumers seeking unique, handmade art pieces with an authentic cultural story.

How It's Made

Understanding the production process helps you appreciate the craftsmanship and communicate the product story to your customers.

Wall art production varies by technique. Block-printed art uses hand-carved wooden blocks (some blocks are decades old, passed down through families) pressed onto Lokta paper with vegetable inks. Multi-color prints require separate blocks for each color, carefully aligned by hand. Screen-printed art allows for more complex designs and consistent color reproduction. Hand-painted pieces are created individually by artists working with mineral pigments on Lokta paper — these are one-of-a-kind. All wall art is produced on heavy-weight Lokta paper and can be sold flat, rolled in tubes, or framed.

Lokta Wall Art & Prints — Frequently Asked Questions

Will Lokta wall art fade over time?
Lokta paper itself is extremely stable and will not yellow or deteriorate (it is naturally acid-free). Our vegetable-based inks and mineral pigments have good lightfastness but, like all natural colorants, will gradually fade with prolonged direct sunlight exposure. We recommend displaying Lokta art away from direct sunlight, or under UV-filtering glass if framed. With proper care, Lokta art retains its beauty for decades.
Can you produce art prints with custom designs?
Yes, we can create custom block-printed or screen-printed art with your designs. For block printing, we carve custom wooden blocks from your artwork. For screen printing, we can reproduce detailed designs including photographs. Custom art is popular for hotel decor projects, restaurant interiors, and branded retail products.
